Beach huts under construction
Beach huts under construction
Following a delay brought about by a storm damaging the promenade, the double-decker beach huts which have been promised for Meadfoot Beach are finally under construction. The 133 huts are made of concrete and will have glass doors behind wooden shutters. Similar view without the huts: SX9263 : Meadfoot Beach, March 2014.
Meadfoot Beach huts

The promenade above Meadfoot Beach has long been home to a row of beach huts. The huts were owned by Torbay Council, and rented out on long or short lets. In 2013, Torbay Council announced plans to remove the old wooden huts and replace them with a two-tier row of 133 concrete huts with glass windows and wooden shutters. Lighting and power sockets were also to be installed. A winter storm in 2013, which damaged the promenade and the cliff behind the site delayed the work for a year, but in early 2015, the new huts were finally completed.
