St. John the Baptist Church

St. John the Baptist Church in Ault Hucknall, is one of just a handful of buildings in this location.
To the east there is a house and a farm on SK4665 : Ault Hucknall Lane and to the west a second house adjacent to the entry to a public SK4665 : Bridleway to Hardwick Park.

The church is approximately a 1000 years. Inside there is a monument to Anne Keighley, the wife of the first Earl of Devonshire. There is also a slab commemorating the philosopher Thomas Hobbes, who died at Hardwick Hall in 1679.

In the end wall (west, facing) there is a blocked-up doorway, which has this SK4665 : Detail above it.
