Oxford Road station: light engine
Back in the 1970s freight locos through Oxford Road were generally classes 25 and 40. Now the ubiquitous class 66.
Oxford Road station nostalgia

I used to travel regularly by train from Altrincham to Manchester Oxford Road in the 1970s. That line is now part of Metrolink. These photos are from return visits in 2015 and 2018.

Oxford Road station has not changed much architecturally in the 40 years, but the pattern of services has changed considerably as described in the captions to these photos.

The station, dating from 1958-60, is listed grade II (list entry number 1255053) mainly for its unusual laminated timber canopies and main entrance.
