Ryder's Green Locks
Ryder's Green Locks
Looking down the eight locks at Ryder's Green. It is sometimes easiest, in making sense of the complicated BCN (Birmingham Canal Navigations) network, to think of it as having three principal levels - Wolverhampton, Birmingham and Walsall in descending height. For boats to travel between any two of those towns, they need only pass through one flight of locks - the eight here in the case of a passage from Birmingham to Walsall.
