In the 1960s there were two clusters of gasholders around the junction of Camley Street and Goods Way, north of St Pancras Station. The location stated is the most probable, given the available viewpoints that would get the sun in the picture. Jonathan Wilkins confirms that the gasholders were removed during the extension of St Pancras to serve the Eurotunnel route. This site is under the remodelled tracks. The road layout too has changed. Another of the Victorian gasholders, restored, will find a new purpose in the regeneration of the area: LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
Hydrogen was half of town gas; it burns no more but the sun keeps going on it undiluted.

Scanned from a Kodachrome slide, ref 67·01·35, retouched to remove dirt. The 3:2 original has been cropped to 4:3 to reduce a big area of black on the left.
