SO8555 : Worcester Tunnel Junction Signal Box

taken 9 years ago, near to Worcester, Worcestershire, England

Worcester Tunnel Junction Signal Box
Worcester Tunnel Junction Signal Box
A proper mechanical signal box with levers. Worcester remains one of the strongholds of mechanical signalling that would be recognisable to a signalman from the age of steam. This can be approached (without trespass) from a new industrial estate that includes Worcester's new fire station. Undergrowth is a problem round here but I was able to circumvent if after an encounter with a particularly prickly shrub.
