Fords Across Thornton Beck
Fords Across Thornton Beck
The water management in Thornton is complex. Further north the flow is subdivided more than once only to come together again later. The two water courses here are the same beck and rejoin just a few metres off the right (southerly) of this picture.

The image is looking east and was taken from SE8382 : Malton Gate just south of Heron Close. The fords, which are at the western end of Bottoms Lane, are in daily use by the householders in the houses in the background.

Just behind the viewpoint, and to the left, there is a small wooden bridge carrying the footpath over the beck.
