Oxwich Castle
A Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade I Listed Elizabethan prodigy house. With possible traces of an earlier mediaeval castle the present structure is 16th century probably by Sir Rice Mansel in the 1520s or 1530s. Sir Edward Mansel, his son, was described in 1578 as having 'lately re-edified or repaired' the castle possibly extending it. The Mansels stopped occupying the castle in about 1630 with only the south-eastern range being used as a farmhouse, leaving the north-eastern range and east tower to fall into disrepair.
