SK2581 : The western wall of Carl Wark
taken 9 years ago, 3 km from Hathersage, Derbyshire, England
The western wall of Carl Wark
It is believed that Carl Wark operated as an Iron Age hillfort. The plateau's natural form meant that three sides already had fairly precipitous rocky defences but on the exposed western side this formidable wall was built.
