Steam(y) locomotive at Kidderminster
No. 90733 is a heavy freight locomotive built in 1945 for the War Department and known colloquially as a 'Dub'Dee'. It was used on the continent, although clearly a British design and was repatriated in 1973 for preservation. The number is fictitious as this never ran in UK service in steam days but is the next in sequence after 90732 which was the highest numbered of the WD locomotives in British service. The whole question of locomotive numbers, names and liveries is vexed with some enthusiasts getting hot under the collar about non-authentic examples of any of those.
The locomotive was on loan from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway for the Severn Valley's spring gala celebrating 50 years of preservation.
