Pillboxes outside Groombridge
These are sited to the south of the junction where the line from London-Lewes crossed that coming from Three Bridges to Tunbridge Wells. The journey to Lewes would often be extended to Newhaven during the war and was used as an alternative military route between the port and London, the main London-Brighton route being a regular target for the Luftwaffe.
