Beam floor, Coleham Pumping Station
This shows the two steel plate twin flitch beams of the pumping engines and the manually operated overhead travelling crane. The engine on the left was running. Both engines may run but the one on the right is used intermittently to amuse children, who are allowed to start it by opening the stop valve. The problem is that when both engines run together it is necessary to stop all access between them, bringing the visitor flow to a standstill.
