Bournemouth - Court Royal Hotel
Bournemouth - Court Royal Hotel
In 1898 the Italian inventor, electrical engineer, and pioneer of long-distance radio transmission Guglielmo Marconi, erected a 100 foot experimental aerial mast here in the grounds of the former Madeira Hotel. The result was that the world's first paid radio message was received here from Lord Kelvin on the Isle of Wight on 3rd June 1898. The Court Royal is now a convalescent home for South Wales miners.
