The church is mentioned in the Domesday book, and consists of a western tower, baptistery, nave with south aisle, chancel and south chapel, vestry and south porch.
The nave, chancel and south Chapel date from the early 12th century, and a few years later the south aisle was added with the tower and an annexe which is now used as a baptistery.
There were several restorations in Victorian times, including the rebuilding of the chancel arch.
The font is 12th century, with a cover dating from Tudor times.
Most of the glass is Victorian, the organ dates from 1908.
