SN1745 : Cardigan Castle wall: south tower

taken 9 years ago, near to Bridgend, Ceredigion/Sir Ceredigion, Wales

Cardigan Castle wall: south tower
Cardigan Castle wall: south tower
Underpinned, grouted, re-pointed, weeded and cleaned up ready for the grand opening on 15/4/2015. The southern wall was supported for centuries by a row of houses along the roadside. Clearance of these for road widening began a rapid process of subsidence and collapse, and RSJ buttresses were placed across the pavement to hold the walls up (e.g. see SN1745 : Cardigan Castle: 1000 years of history). These are now gone, and the wall will probably be ok for a while.
