Granite Erratic, Gaythorne Plain
Granite Erratic, Gaythorne Plain
A huge boulder of Shap granite sitting on a limestone pedestal in a dry valley on Gaythorne Plain just outside the Great Asby Scar Nature Reserve. The boulder was transported on glacial ice from the eastern Lake District. Several large boulders are found in a chain along this valley.
