Temporary Ironic Gate, Malvern Hills
The Malvern Hills are in the guardianship of the Malvern Hills Conservators. They were originally formed to protect the hills from enclosure: leaving the land open for commoners, their animals and non-commoners to wander freely. In the last 30 years the latter's dogs caused too many deaths to sheep Those with commoners' rights were unable to keep their animals on the hills. In a desperate campaign to keep the "bare hills" from being taken over with deep vegetation the Conservators have re-intoduced sheep to small areas at a time. This requires temporary fencing and gates on the paths.
