The Column of Victory (commemorating the Duke of Marlborough's military successes and erected in 1727-30, with a long-winded inscription by Lord Bolingbroke) from the northwest. The avenue, column, bridge and palace at Blenheim are all aligned with the church at Bladon where Winston Churchill is buried.
