The more distant white buildings are new (2005) student residences, Victory House and Paston House, with Colman House furthest from the camera. The nearest white building is a new medical centre and nursery. The old concrete building being demolished at the right is Waveney Terrace, affectionately nicknamed the Swedish Prison. Rising student populations (partly due to a new medical school) combined with the demand for larger and more modern en-suite accommodation (as opposed to poky breezeblock rooms and communal facilities) has led to a major building programme.
