Gillingham War Memorial
The Memorial which bears the names of 18 men lost in WW1 and 2 lost in WW2 is in the centre of what was the old Beccles to Great Yarmouth Road. Since the re-alignment of the road and construction of a new roundabout the road is now just a footpath. This site was chosen for the Memorial because it is close to the spot where King George V stood to review the troops of the Northern Army on July 26th 1916 before they embarked to the front.
