SO1415 : Trig on Mynydd Llangynidr
3 km from Llangynidr, Powys, Great Britain

Trig on Mynydd Llangynidr
The trig point in this lonely spot is 541m above sea level and lies adjacent to a path running north across the plateau from the Tredegar area. The plateau is formed from the 'Basal Grit' of Carboniferous, Namurian age. It is dotted with shakeholes where the gritstones have collapsed into cavities dissolved in the limestone which everywhere underlies it. The summits of Pen y Fan and Corn Du can be glimpsed in the distance.
