taken 9 years ago, near to Dłn Chonnuill (castle) [antiquity (non-Roman)], Argyll And Bute, Great Britain

Interfingering Rocks
Interfingering Rocks
It's not obvious, and I don't think I would have noticed it if it had not been pointed out to me, but there are several different generations of rock in this view. In particular there is an oval blob of rougher material in the centre of the view which protrudes down into slightly darker and smoother rock on either side of it. There was much, and rather inconclusive, discussion of the possible processes which could have produced this. See also NM6712 : Sand Volcano?.
