Pile of stones
The OS marks several 'piles of stones' placed as an aid to navigation along the N/S path across the plateau of Mynydd Llangynidr. With its innumerable pits and knolls this area is a navigational challenge in good weather and would be extraordinarily difficult in poor weather. A thin layer of gritstone overlies limestone which has been dissolving away over millennia to leave this pocked surface.
