SO3178 : Cairn on Pen-y-wern Hill

Cairn on Pen-y-wern Hill
Cairn on Pen-y-wern Hill
We were quite disappointed when we went to find this cairn on Pen-y-wern Hill. This scheduled ancient monument is situated in a recently 'improved' field which has been ploughed close up to the feature, itself a low round mound without any obvious large stones. The cairn is however quite prominent on the skyline because of three distinctive Scot's pines.
