Springhead Pumping Station
Springhead Pumping Station
Built in 1864 in the Italianate style with an octagonal lantern, the pumping station was enlarged in 1876 by the addition of an engine house. On the night of Saturday, 23rd/Sunday, 24th December 1944 the building was damaged by one of a number of flying bombs destined for Manchester. Until fairly recently the pumping station was home to the Yorkshire Water Museum.
