Retaining wall to Railways on B653
Retaining wall to Railways on B653
Railway, road and River Lea are squeezed together at this point. The retaining wall on the left once carried the single-track railway line between Hatfield and Luton, closed in 1962 to passengers. Beyond and above it is the Midland Main Line from St Pancras. The River Lea, where it runs through lakes on the Luton Hoo estate, is hidden behind a brick wall on the right of the road.
