NZ6000 : Badger Stone, Hodge Beck

taken 19 years ago, near to Cockayne, North Yorkshire, England

Badger Stone, Hodge Beck
Taken from Cockayne Ridge (NZ607006) and looking WSW. I am not sure if this is an erratic boulder or a rock outcrop but it really stands out like a sore thumb. I am informed it is known as the Badger Stone and used to be named as such on the OS map but no longer is. One reason could be that its location as the meeting point of several administrative boundaries has taken precedence over the name of the feature in order to provide clarity in the cartography. A fat lot of use administrative boundaries are when you're out on the moors in misty conditions.
