Queen Victoria's Alcove, Osborne House
Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s family home at East Cowes on the Isle of Wight, is one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island. After first visiting Osborne, England’s longest-reigning monarch wrote: 'It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot.'.

Prince Albert designed the house himself in the style of an Italian Renaissance palazzo and it was built between 1845 and 1851.
