Skibo Castle near Dornoch
Skibo Castle is situated just to the west of Clashmore and the A9 trunk road, some 4 miles West of Dornoch. Skibo Castle was built between 1899 and 1903 for the American steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie and his wife Margaret as their Scottish retirement home. A substantial baronial mansion overlooking the Dornoch Firth, Skibo incorporated another house built some 20 years earlier. Now a hotel, Skibo Castle was used by Madonna when she married Guy Ritchie.
