TF4382 : War Memorial at Withern
near to Withern, Lincolnshire, Great Britain

War Memorial at Withern
The main war memorial, constructed from Portland Stone measures 3380mm tall and 1200mm wide. There is a metal fence around the memorial originally put there to prevent damage from cattle and sheep that would have been herded along the road, but maybe now from human kind! Also inside the compound is a long wooden bench, 2130mm long placed there after World War 2 in memory of one of the villagers whose name is on a plaque on the chair. Perhaps this too was once in a more prominent place in the village but has been moved to this spot for safe keeping.
The stone memorial is in good condition, now that it has been restored.
