Ponies grazing on the verge of the B3055, Beaulieu Heath, New Forest
It might seem silly (given the risk of being hit by traffic) but the ponies tend to gather on the verges. They are grassier and there's a better breeze there (they're raised above the surrounding heath) to keep the annoying flies off. The commoners' stock have right of way on the unfenced roads on the open Forest, so if they are grazing on the verge with their rear end stuck out into the road then the traffic has to go around them.
