Footbridge over the Beaulieu River at Longwater Lawn, New Forest
In the summer this footbridge is enough to allow you to cross the lawn without getting your feet wet, although in the winter it is a lot wetter here. The silt deposits from the winter flooding fertilise the surrounding lawn, allowing the lush grass to grow (compare with the heather on the poor soils of the heath beyond). Ponies also use this bridge to cross the river, and the side rails make a good scratching post too.
