Railway Station, Saxilby
Not shown on the map, but this photograph was taken from beneath the new footbridge, and because it had just started raining. The Class 144s are a bit long in the tooth having been built in 1986 and 1987. I photographed a couple of them at Sheffield, as newly built, on 12th February 1987 - LinkExternal link This is Northern Rail Class 144007.
The station (now unmanned) opened on 9th April 1849. A foot-crossing connected both platforms, but that was replaced with a footbridge in 2014. It has both steps and ramps. Ahead of the unit, the signal box and crossing gates have been replaced by full-barriers. To the north east of the station were three sidings, that fanned-out, one of which led to a goods shed. Near the crossing was a head-shunt.
