Explosion site, The Warren, near Savernake - detail
On 7th July 1945 an ammo dump on the land just to the right of the road caught fire and exploded causing the loss of life of an American serviceman and considerable property damage. This tree stump is about the only physical evidence to be seen that the explosion occurred. Information from 'Savernake at War' Roger Day 2007 Link
