St Katharine's Church, The Warren, Savernake
The church isn't that old; it was consecrated in 1861. It suffered badly from the effects of an ammo dump explosion that occurred in July 1945 and repairs took nearly 7 years to be completed, the church re-opening at Easter 1952. The repairs were very well done and, today, it is the absence of many of the original stained glass windows that is almost the only evidence of the incident. Note the spelling of the name: there is only one 'e' in 'Katharine'. The explosion site is in this image Link
