Joe Mercer Way and the City of Manchester Stadium
Looking along Joe Mercer Way to the City of Manchester Stadium, the home of Manchester City Football Club and the main venue for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Joe Mercer was manager of the football club between 1965 and 1972 and was, briefly, the England team manager in 1974. A nearby plaque notes the fact that he died on 9th August 1990 on his 76th birthday.
