Coarse fishing boat jetty on the largest man-made lake in western Europe. In the distance is a large gathering of yachts.
Completed in 1977, the reservoir covers 3,100 acres, has a storage capacity of 124,000 million litres (27,000 million gallons). It provides water for domestic and industrial consumption, and is also used for recreational purposes such as boating and fishing.
The dam is 1,200 metres long, and the maximum depth is 34 metres. A walk around the shoreline is about 41.8 kilometres.
