Ferrybridge is a chosen place for power stations, so this is 'C', the third coal-fired power station on the site. It opened in 1966 and was designed by Watson & Coates. It is very impressive as are all these types of structures. The chimneys are 650 feet high and the eight cooling towers 380 feet, making them the largest of their kind in Europe.
It is scheduled to close by March 2016.
