White House Of Aros from the foot of the castle
A 7 bedroom house with Gardener's Cottage, boathouse and walled garden most of which is currently (2015) available as a holiday let. RCAHMS's Canmore database describes it as a hotel but it was originally the factor's house for the Aros Castle Estate although at one point in its life it was used as an inn. Built in 1825 by William Burn with alterations by J M Wardrop around 1875 it was substantially refurbished and modernised following its purchase in 1996. Canmore states it was blown up about 1960 but I can find no detail on this. The Boathouse was built in 2007 and designed by the Roxburgh McEwan architectural practice in Edinburgh.
