Ponies at Backley Holmes, New Forest
There is a large area of lawn around Backley Holmes, in the shape of an irregular pentagon, that looks like an artificially re-seeded area. It is popular with grazing ponies as it is grassy, away from the crowds and exposed to the wind. In summer the breeze is a good thing as it helps to keep away the annoying flies.
