Dunalastair dam from the Upper Tummel put-in
The Dunalastair dam releases a legally required minimum compensation flow throughout the summer, which is just about enough to provide a paddle, but most boaters will choose to run the river during one of its periodic 48-hour releases. The volume released does vary depending on recent rainfall, and after a prolonged dry period, we think the release we were paddling when this photo was taken was a bit lower than usual.
