NG4076 : Stack east of Rubha Hunish

Stack east of Rubha Hunish
The whole of the coast of northern Skye is broken into geos, caves and stacks, and this is the last one before rounding the corner and heading west. By this point in our trip there is no chance to explore behind the stack, as the tide is pushing along at a couple of knots and the bigger swells were lifting us 1.2m up and down. We are still sheltered from the southerly wind and the swell and tide direction are similar, so the waves are glassy smooth which makes for fast paddling.

The islands in the distance directly ahead are a small group - Lord Macdonald's Table (or Am Bord), Gearran Island and Gaeilavore Island. The bigger Fladaigh Chuain lies just beyond, but is lower and only occasionally became visible in the swell.
