TQ1421 : Shipley church: Norman window

taken 8 years ago, near to Shipley, West Sussex, England

Shipley church: Norman window
Shipley church: Norman window
To be found on the south side of the church, to the west of the porch.

What strikes me is the way that the head of the arch is built up using slabs of stone set radially - in much the same way as Anglo-Saxon builders made use of old Roman bricks and tiles: SP7471 : Anglo-Saxon arch at Brixworth The use made of dressed stone is quite limited - some of it plainly due to Victorian restoration.
