Disused building at RAF Sturgate
Disused building at RAF Sturgate
The purpose of this building (SK869877) is unclear, it wasn’t the control tower which survives nearby. RAF Sturgate was one of the last airfields constructed during WWII, opening in 1944 as a bomber base but never saw operational service. It is now home to an airport for light aircraft and Lincoln Aero Club. Hewitt's windmill is just visible on the horizon.
