Platform and canopy, Borth Station
Platform and canopy, Borth Station
The canopy is essentially that installed by the Great Western Railway in 1932, replacing the longer and more ornate structure built by the Cambrian Railways. The station building is otherwise little changed since it was built by the Cambrian around 1864.

A loop line had originally been built parallel to the station line. A long drawn out plan to fit it with a second platform began with a short platform in 1894, a footbridge in 1900, and a full length platform, of wood, in 1911. The loop was taken out during cut-backs post 1966, and the associated structures disappeared over the years.

The two well-wrapped passengers waiting for the Shrewsbury train are probably appreciating the protection of the station building, whose other side is being battered by Storm Abigail.
