Platforms at Oxford Parkway station
The first trains to carry passengers to and from this station ran on 25th October 2015. It is the present terminus of the service from London Marylebone to Oxford which commenced on the above date. The new service was made possible by the construction of a short spur at Bicester linking the main line from Marylebone to Banbury and the former branch from Oxford to Bicester and is expected to compete with the long-established route from London Paddington to Oxford via Reading and Didcot. A previous station - Oxford Road Halt - stood a few metres south-west of Oxford Parkway on the former line from Oxford to Bletchley via Bicester but closed in 1926.

Taken looking in the direction of Oxford's main line station to which the new service is expected to be extended in 2016.
