Clava Cairns
Clava Cairns
Balnuran North-East Cairn - although today this is open to the elements, originally the overlapping stone structure would have been built to form a totally enclosed, three and a half metre high, inner chamber.

The entrance is oriented south-west so that the setting sun on the shortest day of the year would illuminate the chamber - in recent years this phenomenon has been observed by covering the chamber and passage with tarpaulin - LinkExternal link
