Taken from the same viewpoint as Neil's TQ2865 : Sluices on the Wandle, Carshalton, Surrey on the Butter Hill road bridge, this offers an interesting comparison. The vinyl factory buildings have gone from the bank on the left side and beyond the sluices they have been replaced by a new residential estate. The only feature that clearly has not changed is the double C shaped metal support bracket in the wall of the building to the right.
TQ2865 : Butter Hill Bridge and Vinyl Works, Carshalton, Surrey VCM is indeed a carcinogen and is noted to cause a rare tumour - angiosarcoma of the liver (arsenic, thorotrast and anabolic steroids also do this). Most doctors will probably never see a case of this.
