The normal weekday off-peak service is two trains per hour to London Charing Cross, reduced to one train per hour after the evening peak and on Sundays. During the afternoon (except when there is racing) only a handful of passengers join and leave the trains, which have only a five-minute layover before working back to London. The type of train normally used is the 4-car Class 455 unit, as here with 455 814, but now and then one of the much more luxurious main line Class 377 units appears. In the rush hour, trains may be lengthend to six or even eight cars, and may include one or more 2-car '456' units.
