Edge of Pitts Wood Inclosure at Ticketsbury, New Forest
Edge of Pitts Wood Inclosure at Ticketsbury, New Forest
This knoll on the northwest edge of the Ashley Cross plateau is called Ticketsbury (or Tickets Bury). The pines on the southern boundary of Pitts Wood Inclosure march over the knoll, forming a prominent landmark visible for some distance to the north. The path cutting across the middle of the photo leads from Ashley Cross (to the left) down into Pitts Wood Inclosure (to the right). Bell heather is flowering in the foreground, falling rain is blurring the knoll and trees in the distance.
